Had a bunch of beer leftover from #1’s graduation party, and a week later there was STILL a bunch of beer leftover. A friend suggested I make some beer bread. Didn’t sound particularly appetizing to be honest, but I googled it and sure enough there are tons of recipes out there. I made this one:
This comes together and is a snap to make. I did not have self-rising flour so I included baking powder and salt. Make sure you sift the flour! And as the recipe notes, a 1/4 cup of butter is fine – I think a 1/2 cup would be way too much. Baking time was true.
I’ve made it with a few different types of beer – Sam Adam’s Summer Ale was pretty good. It is delicious warm out of the oven, but just as tasty completely cooled. Goes great with hearty fare like chili or stew. Enjoy!
